Matt Krieg is the director of Second Story Counseling’s Grand Rapids location. He strives to provide gracious counseling to anyone regardless of circumstances and knows the power of an empathic witness in our life situations.

Anne is a trauma-informed counselor with a gentle approach. In her practice she utilizes a combination of IFS-informed methods, somatic work, and tools from the intersection of inter-personal neurobiology and spiritual formation. She believes that every one of us bears a glory, beauty, and strength. The reality is that we bear these things in part because our stories are full of brokenness, pain, darkness, and shame. We feel fear, sadness, loneliness, distress, hopelessness, stress, or anxiety and our relationships are difficult. None of us are immune from difficulty in this life, but if we can find the strength to look at and lean into our painful places, healing can occur. Her aim is to help you grow in understanding your story and how it has shaped you and how you see yourself, God, your relationships, and the world around you. She believes that by inviting you to sit together in those moments of deep pain, confusion, difficulty, or darkness in your journey we can start to understand the true and deeper story of our lives – that we are loved and known by God.

We are a collaborative group of licensed counselors who draw from many different schools of thought—including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and attachment theory. We are also deeply committed Christians who believe that the best of psychology and the best of theology are both important for helping people discover freedom and transformation.

Although good advice and coping skills can sometimes be helpful, our primary goal is to provide a safe place for you to unpack your story, along with a steady curiosity over areas where you have shut down or let your heart go into hiding. As we walk towards healing those places, we will help mark the space where God wants to meet you and lead you into new areas of growth and transformation in your life.

Motivated by our mission (2 Cor. 5:11-21) and equipped to serve children, adolescents, adult men and women, couples and families, the licensed counselors at West Michigan Wellness Group desire to see people healed of past hurts and reconciled in their relationships. We understand how unpredictable your life’s journey can be and we make it our mission every day to walk with people through their own stories, guiding them towards healing, growth, and reconciliation.

Seeing the “big picture” in your own story can be difficult, often making important details unclear and next steps uncertain. Through conversations focused on getting to know you, your story, your goals, and your struggles, the professionals at WMWG provide an objective perspective and offer caring insight on how to move foward. Wherever you are in your story, and whatever obstacles you may be facing, we are honored to journey with you in hope towards healing.
